50th Anniversary at the one & Only + Lone Mountain Ranch
August
No Pro Photographer | One & Only Moonlight Basin + Lone Mountain Ranch | Beautifully Born Events | Rathvinden farm grew all the flowers
Lauren brought this wonderful client to me to create something “ruby” toned because the 50th element is a ruby. She collaborated with the client to put together the most fabulous design including this PERFECT linens. While there wasn’t a professional photographer, Lauren took behind the scenes photos for me that are more than enough to show the incredible textures and soaring spires. For August, we had every weather pattern during the day, but the sun came out just in time for the dinner party.
The first event leaned more dressed-up, but still needed to feel warm, welcoming and like the couple themselves. We created several different sized arrangements to give the table dimension and scale. Does the RUBY shine through, or WHAT?! For the second day, we wanted something casual, but elevated. The flowers are full and colorful without being too stuffy, mixing soft pinks, deeper reds, and neutral tones in a way that feels natural instead of forced. This table setting is meant for people to actually sit, eat, and talk for a while—not just look pretty for a photo. The name cutouts, napkins and glassware add a thoughtful touch, but they don’t steal the focus. The goal was to celebrate and create kind of table that makes a dinner feel like an occasion without feeling formal or intimidating. The One & Only hosted this event so beautifully and was the perfect location near the couple’s lodgings in Big Sky.
The second setup was much simpler and more laid-back. White cosmos in woven baskets, a checkered tablecloth, wooden walls—it feels cozy and familiar, like a cabin meal or a casual gathering with friends. I arranged the flowers to feel wild and delightful; they spill out a bit, bend, and do their own thing—embracing the natural shape of the flower types. That looseness made the space feel relaxed and lived-in. They chose the check tablecloth with the relaxed vibes of entirely cosmos so the guests felt casual, but elevated. I arranged these into baskets with a ceramic vessel inside and voila! Elevated lodge vibes! Lone Mountain Ranch (Near Big Sky) felt just right with all of its wood tones.
What connects both tables is the client—they wanted to create a moment for their people to feel, celebrate and delight in their accomplishment of 50 years but you can tell they aren’t stuffy. Creative, committed, warm and inviting are the words that come to mind. The flowers don’t dominate the space; they support it. The goal was to make the tables feel alive without demanding attention for the flowers. Sometimes it’s just about choosing elements that feel natural, a little imperfect, and easy to enjoy. Locally grown flowers embrace this better than any other flowers I’ve worked with.
